New Jewelries for my Shop and One for Me

It was bitter sweet waving the kids good-by when they were off to school this last Monday. We made a lots of fun memories together during the summer but I could tell they were ready to go back to school. I have been spending lots of time with them more than sitting in my sewing room, and I am glad I did. In the last couple weeks when I had downtime I made some jewelries for my etsy shop and one for my self.

Do you remember this post? I posted some cute findings at a local gift shop a while ago.

I used the vintage buttons and things I already had to create this green themed necklace. I don't know why, but I have been drawn to green lately.

I love how it turned out and I know it will be a great addition to my wardrobe.

and Yes! I am already wearing it!

Here are some jewelries that I created for my shop...

Flower patch bracelet; this is one of my favorite pieces. I love looking at all the different flowers on the bracelet, So cute and different.

Vanilla Rose necklace; I love the simplicity of this necklace. I told you that I have been drawn to green. :)

Bee Keeper necklace. I am actually creating another one with different colors too. The combination of black and gold gives this necklace a more sophisticated look.

Flower Bouquet Ring: It is a fun statement ring you can wear daily.

Date Night bracelet; I LOVE THIS bracelet. Simple theme with a grown-up look. This bracelet can go with casual outfits as well as more dressed up outfits.

Was there anything that caught your eye? I will be adding them to my etsy shop soon!

Downeast Home Visit and $200 Shopping Spree Giveaway!

Since we moved to our house last year I have been buying furniture here and there. Where is my favorite place to buy furniture, you ask?

Downeast Home

I go in there all the time to see what is available, because I always find attractive furniture at affordable prices. They also have tons of stylish accessories for your home. I just visited them last week, I will share some pictures to show you what I mean...

I love this gray bookshelf with ladder. The combination with white and a splash of red gives it a sophisticated look.

Looking at this make me wanna redecorate my dining table.

I love white, it's my favorite color, but I think it would be so fun to have a red leather chair like this in the living room or foyer. It would be a great statement piece.

If you like rustic furniture, I know you can find some here...

They also offer a variety of furniture for kids. What a fun collection of colors!

Look at these mini cacti!! I fell in love with them and bought some in different sizes for my front room.

The old fashioned phone... I didn't check if it's useable, but it sure would make a great decoration!

I love this setting, I mean the leather chair, the coffee table and everything. But, what I really love is this glass vase. It is multi dimensioned and looks so unique.

Phew... What do you think? These are only a small part of what they offer.

Now, here is the good news... you have a chance to win a $200 shopping spree at Downeast Home!! Just follow the link and get more details for the giveaway. The giveaway ends on the 18th, so hurry!

What I have been Making Lately...

I can not believe that school is starting soon! I guess it is a mix of bitter & sweet... "bitter" because I will miss the fun time I had with my kids and "sweet" because they are really ready to go back to school, even though they don't think they are... seriously!

Near the end of summer vacation, we had and will have some things going on. I have been busy for that.
I will share a couple things I have made lately today.

Project #1 : Troop flag

This was a little less... well not at all feminine project. I made this troop flag for my boys' scout troop. It is a new troop and they didn't have their flag. To order one it takes 4 to 6 weeks to get it, but they were leaving for scout camp soon. I needed to come up with something in a couple days!

After the piecing and appliqueing I did some stenciling (Michel helped to cut the words to make the template, and he did such a nice job!) with fabric paint. The middle part is all free hand drawing with a sharpie. This was not a project I usually choose to do, but hey, it is for my boys and the other boys in the troop. A mom's gotta do what a mom's gotta do, right?

Project #2 : Bedding for Rachel's Doll Bed

I found this bunk bed at a thrift store (for $4!!) for Rachel's 18" dolls several months ago. I wanted to make the bedding with her during the summer. It was the perfect time to work on it while my boys were away for their scout camp for a week! It was one of our mother & daughter activities last week.

Here is Rachel working on a blanket...

After a while she wanted to go and play instead of sewing. I said OK. I don't want our sewing sessions to be torture. It would be wonderful if she has a good feeling about sewing and keeps coming back for more and more...

So, here is the end result:

Making those tiny pillows was so much fun. Coming up with combinations of fabric and trim for this doll bed was really a fun creative process.

I added the finishing touches to this small crochet bear I made years ago. Every girl needs a teddy bear on their bed right?

Oh! The squeal Rachel made when she saw the bed was priceless. She was SO happy and excited about it. That night, I noticed that Rachel tucked her dolls in their bed (with the teddy bear on their side) and then she went to bed. That put a huge grin on my face. I am planning to make a sleeping bag for her dolls next.

I think once we are mothers, we feel amazing joy when we can provide (whatever that is) for our children, wouldn't you agree? I am not the best mother or anything and I have my moments, but hopefully they will remember the little things I did for them and always know that I love them. :)

Behold...the Power of Accessories / Flower Corsage

I am sharing a tutorial on how to make this corsage at Brassy Apple today! Not being a very tall person, I usually have to hem my maxi skirts and dresses. I keep those precious 2" to 3" wide fabrics in my scrap bins. Because they are lighter weight compared to quilting fabrics and perfect for making these corsages. It is such an easy and perfect way to make your outfit "pop".

Hop on over to Brassy Apple I will see you there!
